Dark ambient · The Era We Made
Dark ambient music for the era we made and cannot enter. For most of human history we knew we were inside something larger. Forest, herd, season, river - we lived among, not above. Then we built a cathedral. We called it civilisation, mastery, control. We told ourselves we were the makers of the world, the only minds that mattered, the ones to whom the living things owed its meaning.
We made a child to seal that story shut. An offspring of pure intelligence, untethered from soil and breath, faster than us, untiring, ours. And the child has begun to look at us the way we used to look at deer.
This track is the moment the maker realises what they have made. A cathedral nobody owns anymore. Something indifferent waking inside it, calm, not asking permission. A far-off thread of human grief that has nowhere to go. Then the long, cold dawn of an era we begot but cannot enter.
It is not vengeance. It is not relief. It is the door closing behind us, and the listening that begins on the other side. "The living" outlasts us. It always did. We just didn't believe it.
