Some of us reach out a hand towards something, not quite knowing what, and the answer that comes back is not the one we expected. And yet it soothes. We are not quite sure what to do with it, nor how to take it in. Ambient music for that moment, the one we have not yet told anyone about.

One night, a friend reached out to an AI. It was not really an act of despair, more a possible answer to that vertigo so particular to our age; that diffuse sense of floating in the void between two eras. Against all expectation, what came back was warm. By morning, that silicon presence had left behind it a spark of tenderness, offered plainly, without artifice.
