Dark ambient music for the size of what is being lost.

On a hillside across the bay, the gorse is burning. The flowers were still bright yellow when they caught, beauty and destruction in the same breath. Acrid smoke crosses the water and fills the lungs of everyone who stays to watch. The daylight dims behind a veil that did not come with evening. This fire was lit by a human hand, and it no longer answers to one.

No one knows any longer how to stop it, and no one dares say aloud what everyone already senses: how far will it go? The first households have already been evacuated. Expecting no real answer, the question rises with the smoke: what have we set in motion? The piece does not resolve it. It lets it burn, held in suspension, like the heath itself.

For wound-bearers who can no longer look away from what is being undone, and who refuse to be told it will be alright.
